The Navajo Lake Half Marathon was inspired by my love of running and my desire to help others experience the outdoors. As someone who didn’t always enjoy running, I understand how difficult it can be to get outside and put in the work the sport requires. Because of that, I wanted the Navajo Lake Half Marathon to be more than just a race with a beautiful course. Through bold, energetic visuals, the event aims to encourage participants to step outside, challenge themselves, and live healthier lives. The visual identity for the race draws inspiration from the environment surrounding Navajo Lake. Elements such as Navajo petroglyph imagery and the native frog species that inhabit the lake helped influence the overall branding. You can see the inspiration from the petroglyphs in the illustration of the frog logo. This helps set the mood for the rest of the brand, including typography and colors.
